Food trends come and food trends go. But our Canadian food trucks are thankfully here to stay, at least for the summer. Whether it’s an old-school chip wagon or a newfangled gourmet trailer with a fancy paint job, we just love our food trucks. What gets us so excited about what’s frequently a pretty simple take-out lunch?
It tastes like summer. Street food reminds us of days at the beach and drive-in movies. It has the innocently enticing flavour of carnivals and road trips, and a single bite of the right street food can instantly put you in vacation mode.
You can easily recreate these dishes at home with the recipes in our summer issue. It is a celebration of these fun-in-the-sun taste experiences: the sweet, salty, creamy, crispy, crunchy and, above all, Canadian cheesy delights that make you want to take your shoes off and sit on the grass, even if you have to put them back on to go back to work.
