A passion for perfection
The 9th edition of the Canadian Cheese Grand Prix
It’s been both a pleasure and an honour for me to serve as chairman of the jury since the first Canadian Cheese Grand Prix in 1998. The Grand Prix is a national competition organized by Dairy Farmers of Canada to celebrate the passion we share as an industry, the artistry of Canadian cheese makers and the highest achievements of their craft. For this 9th edition, a jury of cheese specialists, food writers, chefs and cheese shop owners judged entries from across the country in a series of blind tastings for each cheese category.
In this special issue of our magazine, we’re proud to present the winners and grand champion from this year’s Grand Prix. It was the biggest competition in the event’s history: proof that our industry isn’t just growing but thriving and producing cheeses of truly exceptional quality. We had 268 entries in 27 categories and the largest panel of judges ever. – you’ll see them pictured here. I can tell you – the deliberation was passionate! We are excited to share this passion and the perfection of this year’s winning cheeses. I invite you to use this magazine as a guide to delicious discovery and to take pleasure and pride in sharing the best cheeses our country has to offer.
As distinct and unique as each winner is, there’s one common thing you can taste in all of them: pride.
